True or false Govt. Questions.?

False--the President IS the Commander in Chief of the armed forces,

True, although they don't usually exercise the privilege.

False--no one is exempt from the laws of the land, although functionally, many people buy their way out of the penalty through power, a good lawyer or just pure graft.

False--the president is primarily the commander in chief, the rapid response arm of the government. He may sometimes serve as an unofficial ambassador, but the bulk of the power ot the federal government resides in Congress.

True--by the nature of his job, he must sometimes exert authority on the fly, so to speak, to insure speedy response, but all actions are reviewable by Congres and, of course, the people.

True--Traditionally, the President appoints his cabinet, and I suppose it might be reviewed by Congress, but generally this is a formality.

False--that would have been Shakesspeare, way previously.

True--although it pretty much has always been common to keep your supporters and advisors around you. Unfortunately sometimes they aren't all that good, but Presidents are not the only ones who have suffered from this problem.

True--I believe that's the official line, although it never really does go away, people being people.

False--I do know that until about 20 years ago, they were all required to register for military service.

 True

False--they changed that back in the 30's or thereabouts, to keep the civil service consistent.

False--not so much the President as Congress.

True--but they mostly don't. In fact, it was Congress who voted to limit Presidential terms, in fear of Teddy Roosevelt.

False--Congress has the right to do anything but eliminate the office entirely.

Interesting collection of basics and trivia.
