Ok, the crux of what I am after is this:
Do you vote in national and/or local elections? If you do why and if you don't why not? What would make the election process better in your opinion?

I always vote. But would love to see all ballots include the official "no vote" choice rather than spoiling the ballot paper. If the no vote wins then the candidates have to go and rethink and represent their policies. More expensive to start with but boy would they learn to listen to us rather than just present their offerings.

Luv you.

I definitely vote for the Presidency. Not always the local level, because frankly I do not always know or understand the positions. What would make the elections better? The president holds his position long enough to figure out where the bathrooms are before its time to run again! Also what would help is that the candidates only be allowed to campaign for 4-6 weeks, we don't need to hear this for months and months, students should be educated on the position and jobs of local politicians, and people in Florida should not be allowed to vote. Also the news should not speculate about the outcome instead they should state the facts.

I vote at every election, but what I don't understand is that no-one is ever happy with the outcome. Nothing ever changes. The politicians are just getting fatter. Schools and hospitals are closing down in Australia, there aren't enough skilled workers, so now we're going to recruit from overseas. That's how well this country is governed. It is a scary thought, no-one wants to go to a hospital in case you catch a disease, and the waiting list for an operation can be years. Good luck. Hope I never get sick. I will keep on voting and do my duty.

I have been eligible to vote in UK elections since August 31st 1992 and have voted in the following elections: Dyfed County Council 1993, Europeans 1994, Unitary Authorities 1995, General 1997, Referendum 1997, Assembly, Locals and Europeans 1999, Ceredigion by-election 2000, General 2001, Assembly 2003, Locals (as a candidate 2004), General 2005.

I feel that as people have died for the vote in various countries around the world for me not to vote would be like saying "Thanks for dying, but dont do it on my part"

I vote nationaly, not locally. I'm not much into local politics, I don't have kids, don't own a home yet, probably won't be in the area much longer.

Will probably be in the nation a while, and maybe in the state a while, and I am probably more affected by national and state issues, like college issues, than local issues.

No...Personal Boycott when I learned what really happened to the write-in canidates on all levels. Complete and total honesty verses dishonesty in reporting the votes cast would make it a truly democratic process. Many write-ins are simply thrown away making it harder for those canidates to get financial backers in future elections and making the actual voting process unbalanced in the percentages.

I do vote on everything available unless I can't find any information on the issue/candidates. I find it difficult to get real information on local elections. This needs improvement everywhere.

I advise people who are uninfomed to get informed or don't vote. Its far better to let people who know what's going on to make the decisions. Unfortunately the Dems do not operate this way. They tout a bunch of emotional outcries that have little or nothing to do with the issues to scare people into voting their way.

I would vote in an election whether it is local or national because it is my right and it gives me a chance to elect/de-select members who are/not acting in my/my countries best interest.

I vote in all local and national elections. If I didn't then I couldn't have my say.
