With the Heathrow security findings and the continous attacks on innocent civilians and soft targets like on 09/11 in the US, the London tube rail bombings and the Mumbai train blasts the terrorists seem to be holding the civilised world to randsom. States like Pakistan, Iraq, Iran Lebanon and Palestine which are suspected terrorist harbouring states constantly refute claims and accusations levied against them. The fact remains that the civilised world is left to fend for itself against a faceless, evil enemy who has no scruples, no remose for its crimes against humanity, no nationality and no religion. What options does the world have to contest this war against terrorism to make the world a safer place to live in?

Very good question, i see you read and don't watch FOX news.

The answer is simple and complex both. Simple in that we need to give local police, State police and the National Guard the power to arrest and detain suspected “terrorist” or “illegals”. A local police officer should be the prime defense. It's also complex in that Democrats wanted to put 80,000 new cops on the street long ago and Republicans put a stop to that plan. That was a very big mistake and will cost Americans in the long run far more than the small amount ask for in Congress.

American Tax payers spend $500 billion on defense. The Iraq war will cost working class tax payers $2 trillion over 10 years. We spent $600 billion on the patriot “defense” system and it can't stop rockets from hitting Israel from Lebanon. We spent $900 billion on Star Wars and it does not work.

What we have now is a “wrong direction” for our country, what we need is a new direction. The national debt is $9 trillion under Republican control in Congress. In 1990 it was only $3 trillion $233 billion. We need to throw the bums out.

Sept. 11th. Was the greatest failure of our Government to protect Americans in the History of our great nation. Failures should be fired. If America were a Corporation the failures would be gone already.

Instead American allow the failures in Government to use Sept. 11th as a political tool to stay in power, a fear tactic.

BTW, It is a bare face lie that any Terrorist would face any American in a face to face fight, they will not, they do the dirty work behind our backs, just like in Nam. Republicans love lies.

Republicans also love sending others off to fight and die and do their dirty work for them. Bush and Cheney are both Draft dodgers and they know nothing about real war.

BTW, Arabs hate Democracy, always have and always will, they prefer a "islamic Republic" like Iran. Iraq is in civil war now and that will never end no matter what we do there. All sides want control of the oil wealth. Iran will control Iraq in the end.

First you stop glorifying it as terrorism, its criminals committing a criminal act, the 50's and 60's had "the mob" now its..., well just who are these criminals?

The majority of people arrested in UK for the tube bombings and the lastest plane threat were British nationals born here, lived here.

The groups have no country, no nationality, they claim support religions that denounce them.

With this terrorism, as with many things these days, its time fo focus on people, individuals, all of them as human beings.

If we stopped chasing false gods (its money this time round, was territory a few hundred years ago and power about 2,000 years back), and used what we have for what it should be used for, thats us, everyone of us, then we have a chance to move out of the downwards spiral we are in.

Dont fight a war on terrorists, implement socially accepted laws and start punishing some crims

American Christian Churches are known to fund the conversion of tribals and the subsequent maintenance of christianized communities, some of which have developed separatist and terrorist activities.

Given the money power of these Churches and their links with the American political class, checking the destination of American Christian funding in India should be a top priority of US politicians who take the “war on terror” seriously. Indeed, it stands to reason that the financial dependence of outfits like the Tripura National Liberation Front and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim on American funding is near-total.

The US government’s power to stop Pakistani-supported terrorism is indirect though real; but its power to stop Christian terrorism in India’s Northeast is direct and practically complete.

Shouldn't war on terror also cover that?

No. do not ignore that it truly is a topic it really is frequently explored in technological information Fiction Literature. Many have self assurance that the end effect of such might want to be "Mutual certain Destruction" being that the USA inspite of being the worlds sole superpower, isn't the in uncomplicated words us of a with accessible Nuclear armament to apply in the form of conflict. this signifies that the entire international might want to be destroyed, no longer merely one us of a or yet another. "If international conflict III is fought with nuclear guns, the subsequent will be fought with bows and arrows"

This is probably most vexed subject engaging attention at the highest level in all peace loving developed/developing countries of the world. This menace can not be brought to a halt in the immediate future. We have to get to the causes as to why it all started. In my opinion Muslim nations feel that they have been cheated ,exploited over centuries. Be it the Crusades, Colonial Rule, World wars,Arab-Israeli wars,Palestine or Kashmir. Most muslim nations have no one else to blame except themselves. Look at the 57 Muslim nations you have in the present day world. Most of them are ruled by despots in tyrranical regimes with minimal or no fundemental rights. Population is deeply indoctrinated (prayer five times a day and very strict religious rules) and believe that their poverty, illiteracy and ill-health are willed by divine powers and willingly accept the same without question. They are swayed by religious sentiment and are ready to sacrifice their life. The answer to this problem is very complex and needs expert in-depth analysis. In the short term fight this menace as at present but with strong cooperation in areas of intelligence sharing. In the long term it is problem of educating Muslim masses. They have to see and experience the fruits of freedom of speech, free enterprise, social security benefits or generally the benefits of a free society in a democracy. This is what George Bush is trying to do in Iraq. The whole world and more so his own people are after him for having ventured in to this awesome exercize. They say he went after middle east oil. This may be partial truth but not the whole truth. It is beyond one's imagination how things will turn out in years to come.
